Sypnosis (goodreads)
"The Selection changed America Singer's life in ways she never could have imagined. Since she entered the competition to become the next princess of Illéa, America has struggled with her feelings for her first love, Aspen—and her growing attraction to Prince Maxon. Now she's made her choice . . . and she's prepared to fight for the future she wants."

WARNING- POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD.

It was obvious from the first book that America was going to win. Her fickleness in this one, though, REALLY got to me. One second she's all, "and in that moment I knew me and Maxon were meant to be" and two pages later she says "Aspen is my life, my true love." Its just.... ughhhhh.

Overall, I liked it. It was just a bit slow and boring in parts. Like the first book in the "trilogy" it at times made me bored. Unlike The Elite which was... perfection.
So no. It wasn't as good as I hoped. I actually read it twice, as I issued it out from my school library and also the public library. I am strange. I started fangirling when I saw it on the school library shelf though, XD.

Some bits seemed like page fillers written just to make a 323 page book. Like Paige and America being shot. My favourite parts, though, were when Elise, Kriss, America and Celeste were all bff-y.

It made me smile, it was nice to see them being all sweet. Especially Celeste.. :,( I cried when I found out what happened to her. WHY COULDN'T THEY KILL AMERICA AND LET KRISS WIN THE SELECTION? Maxon was already planning about the caste removal, and America just got in the way and didn't help. Sure, she put the idea in his head but after that she got REALLY annoying and whiny. And also, I ship Kriss and Maxon. Kraxon? Mriss? Miss? I don't care, they're cute together. <3
And that ending... It was a good ending. Not one I thought was necessary, like I said I ship Kraxon, but it wrapped up the series well. SO WHY ARE THERE TO BE TWO MORE BOOKS ADDED?????
I'll read them anyway. And possibly dislike them, but no biggie. Now. Georgia and August. I didn't really care for August or their relationship, but Georgia was pretty awesome. I have this thing.. it's hard for me to dislike someone after they do something kind. Georgia with that curtsy... that made me like her immediately. And she continued to be America's friend, though I'm sure it'd be difficult. All that Aria Montgomery whining of America's!!!!
I was VERY surprised about Lucy and Aspen. I did realize, when Aspen kept trying to say something to America, that it was that he does love her but he's moved on. He always started with, "I told you I'd always love you, and I mean it-" but America always butted in because she thought he was going to propose or something. And later on when she told him she loved Maxon in pretty much this way:
He was like, "One step ahead of you, gurl," and cuddled Lucy. I was pleased by that. Lucy deserved a happy ending.

Well, I have to go start The Silver Linings Playbook now. Ciao for now!
